State Champions

We’re State Champions for 2015

Our sponsored vertical formation skydive (VFS) team called “1300 AWESOME” won the 2015 WA State Parachuting Championships last weekend in the VFS discipline.

The team consists of one of our tandem instructors, Chris, and our three local freefly coaches Jimmy G, Milla and Red.

They were up against the best skydivers in the State, each completing three rounds of the competition where each team had to perform pre-determined formations throughout their skydive.

VFS is one of the hardest disciplines in skydiving because it’s so fast and it requires a lot more stability control than tradition formation skydiving where the skydivers are falling to earth in a belly first orientation.

To learn to fly vertically skydivers typically have completed over 100 jumps and flown in wind tunnels where they can spend over an hour a day in freefall (the equivalent of 70-80 skydives which would take up to 10 days if you were doing 7 jumps a day).

First you need to learn to skydive though, and we can teach you.

Rose of tralee skydive

Category: News, Tandem Skydiving

On the 19th of May 2015, the 2014 Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh, went tandem skydiving in Jurien Bay!

Maria and her mother both took the plunge, tandem skydiving from 15,000ft above the beautiful turquoise coast in Jurien Bay, our lovely coastal town located 2 hours north of Perth in Western Australia.

Taking her for the skydive was our Irish instructor, Peter Sutton. Fitting right!?

We even arranged for her to jump with one of our parachutes that has the colours of the Irish flag.

“So….this crazy epic but ridiculously cool thing happened today,” she said.

Here are some photos or watch the video!

how to have an awesome first skydive

May 13, 2015
Category: Tandem Skydiving

So you’re thinking of going skydiving?

There are a few things you can do to ensure it really is the best experience of your life. We’ve done over 50,000 tandem skydives, here’s our top 7 tips to first time skydivers!

1. Do your research

Make sure you check out online review sites like Trip Advisor or Facebook. There’s no better way to get an understanding of a company’s quality of service and product. Research the company’s About Us page to learn about any awards they may have as awards are a good indicator of a great business.

2. Allocate enough time on the day

Because safety is the number one priority and the fact that skydiving is a weather dependent adventure activity, sometimes delays occur. So make sure you allow at least half a day for your skydive. If there are delays remember that they are there for a reason and the company has your safety as its number one priority.

3. Watch out for hidden costs that sting like a bee!

Some of our competitors in Perth, York, Rockingham and Pinjarra will charge you up to $75 extra if you’re above 95kg in body weight. So watch out for their “good deals” which might turn sour. At Skydive Jurien Bay there are ZERO hidden costs and we NEVER charge more if you’re above a certain weight. The maximum weight for a tandem skydive passenger is 115kg.

4. Get the video & photos

The skydive is amazing and re-living your skydive with a professionally edited video and photos is equally as amazing.  The skydive itself is pretty intense so chances are you won’t remember every part of it, so by getting video and photos you can enjoy your skydive over and over again. It’s also a great way to brag to your mates about what a boss you are when you share them on social media! #bewm

5. Wear comfortable clothing and avoid collars

Wear something comfortable on the day. You’ll be wearing a harness which will be firmly wedged up your …. 🙂 Dress for the weather also.. In summer shorts and t-shirt is fine, in spring/autumn/winter you might want to wear a hoody or jumper as it can get cold up there. Avoid collars as they can slap against your neck which can hurt. Some skydive operations even dress you up in very not cool suits which look horrendous. But don’t worry, we don’t do that at Skydive Jurien Bay, so you will still look on point for the money shots.

6. Smile and enjoy yourself

It’s okay to be scared but don’t let that stop you from enjoying yourself. You’re in very safe hands with experienced instructors who are doing thousands of skydives every year. Your photos and video will also be way cooler if you’re smiling and looking like you’re enjoying yourself.

7. Choose your drop zone wisely

Like anything in life, you get what you pay for and if you only skydive once in your life you’re better off making sure you get the best experience possible. And lets face it folks, it’s not lawn bowls, so it’s not a time to be skimping on a few dollars. Take all features into consideration when purchasing a tandem skydive… things like online reviews (how many reviews and what is the common theme?), your gut feeling, the reputation of the dropzone, the views (ocean views or paddock) and where you land (beach or paddock), quality of the video product they provide and the perceived professionalism.

We hope this helps you get the most out of your tandem skydive! To book a skydive with us click here or call us on 1300 293 766. We’re also on Facebook & Instagram!

Go to 14k or don’t pay

“When it comes to jumping out of a plane and falling 240km/h towards the ground I’d choose quality and value over price any day”

That’s right, “Go To 14K Or Don’t Pay”. Once again, we are setting a new standard for tandem sky diving in Perth and Western Australia. We’re all about delivering YOU value when you pay for a tandem sky dive. If you pay for a 14,000ft tandem skydive that is what you get. In the very rare situation we didn’t take you to the height you paid for (due to safety reasons) then we will gladly refund you the difference.

skydive photo 1Why height matters you may ask. Well the height you go to determines the length of time you are in freefall. Being in freefall with the most insane coastal views as seen in Jurien Bay, is #totes #amazeballs and something that has to be experienced to be believed. For many it is the best part of their Perth skydiving experience.

When you tandem skydive with us, you will notice we have an altimeter in a visible position inside the plane. This means even you know you’re going to at least 14,000ft, in fact we often take our customers even higher, cause #ThatsHowWeRoll in Jurien Bay.

Our Tandem Skydive Prices

Because all our jumps land on the beach and we operate on the beach, we can offer you a choice of heights to jump from range from 8,000ft through to 14,000ft. 8,000ft is only $300, making us the most affordable beach skydive in Western Australia.

The price of your tandem skydive increases when you choose higher altitudes. 14,000ft ranges from $400-$450, and occasionally we have tandem skydive specials where you get free upgrades to 15,000ft or discounts. #winning. Operating from sea level and having free airspace from commercial airlines also ensures we can take you to the height you paid for.

We also do not discriminate people based on their weight. There are NO additional charges for people above 90kg as we want to make skydiving accessible to everyone.

You’re about the jump from a plane. Do you choose quality or price?

skydive photo 2This isn’t lawn bowls folks. Everything we do for your tandem skydive at Skydive Jurien Bay is centred around your safety, and our instructors safety. It just so happens that we have the World’s Most Beautiful Beach Skydive to take your experience to a level that cannot be matched. We promise to you that we will never compromise our safety standards. You know what you’re getting when you Perth tandem skydive with us.

Here are some Skydive Jurien Bay facts you need to consider when planning your skydive;

  • We have a flawless safety record thanks to our experienced team and commitment to safety
  • The tandem skydive equipment we use is the latest technology (Micro Sigma by United Parachute Technologies) and features the most technically advanced safety features

WHENEVER YOU SKYDIVE FROM 14,000FT NEXT, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TAKEN THERE.

Trophy Skydive

November 18, 2014
Category: News, Tandem Skydiving

On 11 November 2014, the Cricket World Cup trophy made quite an entrance to Australia, tandem skydiving onto the beach in Jurien Bay, Skydive Jurien Bay, Western Australia.

The world first kicks off the Australian leg of the trophy’s world tour which lasts for three months and will travel to all parts of the country.

WorldCup1The trophy is worth $50,000 so we went to extra special precautions to make sure it was secure. It was strapped onto the Tandem Instructor and the passenger (who is an experienced skydiver also). We made sure that it wasn’t coming off, but also we had a procedure in place to ensure that it didn’t flick up and hit the passenger or instructor in the face when the parachute opened.

This is definitely a first for not only skydiving in Western Australia but sky diving in Perth and the world.

Our Australian flag parachute was used and it was absolutely stunning watching it land under our great flag.

GO AUSTRALIA!

Silver in 2014 Awards

Category: News

In previous years in the WA Tourism Awards we won Bronze in 2010 and 2011, Gold in 2012 and 2013, so to be awarded Silver in 2014 is something we are very proud of, especially when you take into account the calibre of businesses in the Adventure Tourism category.

We’re very honoured to win an award for the fifth year in a row, especially because these awards are the best of the best for the Tourism industry in Western Australia.

All our skydiving staff love their job and it’s because of their passion and professionalism that we have been high achievers since the business was founded in 2009.

Not only does this recognition offer valuable exposure to tandem skydiving in Western Australia, it also generates awareness of the entire region and we are actively promoting the Turquoise Coast to West Australians and tourists.

In 2014 we are on track to do 6,000 tandem skydives, with a majority of those customers travelling up from Perth for the skydive.

We recently completed our 20,000th skydive in Jurien Bay, a huge milestone for skydiving in Western Australia.
