Things to do

The Jurien Bay Jetty and Snorkel Trail

If there’s an icon that captures the essence of Jurien Bay, it has to be the jetty. The new jetty spans 162 metres into the Indian Ocean just a short walk from the Skydive Jurien Bay office. It’s a popular place for year-round fishing, lazy walks and golden hour photography. In summer, you’ll see kids of all ages chucking themselves over the edge for a little water bomb action.

Just next to the new jetty stands the old jetty pylons. Not only does this site offer a nice backdrop for photos, it’s also home to a beautiful snorkel trail. It’s free to use but be sure to snorkel with a buddy. If you don’t have a masks and snorkel, they can be purchased from Sea Sport Tackle nearby.

4WD Tours

The area’s sand dunes, rugged coastline and national parks offer loads of opportunity to get off the beaten track. If you don’t have a 4WD, don’t worry. Jurien Bay Adventure Tours offers Sandboarding, Pinnacles, Mount Lesueur and Stockyard Gully Caves Tours. Check out or call 1300 GO ADVENTURE. Even if you’re just planning a daytrip, weather permitting, you could fit in a jump and a half day 4WD tour for an action packed day of adventure! Bring your bathers, snorkelling gear, sun protection and a towel and let your tour guide take care of everything else.

Fishing, Sea Lion and Snorkelling Charters

Fishing is Jurien Bay’s favourite past-time. You can fish from the jetty or the beach but deep sea fishing can be even more exciting. There are fishing charters in Jurien Bay and Cervantes that will show you everything you need to know about game fishing (and supply all the gear). Turquoise Safaris also offer boat trips to visit Jurien Bay’s famous sea lions and take you to the coast’s most amazing snorkelling locations. Check out Turquoise Safaris, Jurien Bay Oceanic, Sea Lion Charters or the Lobster Shack for more information. Fishing Charters are also available with Seaestar Boat Charters.

Sandy Cape Recreation Park

Just 13 kilometres north of Jurien Bay is Sandy Cape Recreation Park. If you fancy a bit of camping near a quiet, sheltered beach, then this just may be your kind of heaven. It’s also a popular place for sand boarding so rent yourself a board at Tiges Surf Shop and dune it.

Explore caves and wildflowers

If you’ve got your own 4WD and you’re into exploring, head to Stockyard Gully Caves.  From there, a short hike will take you to the main cave. A couple hours is enough to explore the open caves, take a hike and have a picnic. Remember to take a torch and plenty of water. In springtime, wildflowers blanket the national parks to create an impressive landscape.

 The Pinnacles

No trip to Jurien Bay is complete without exploring The Pinnacles. You’ll feel like you’ve entered a Star Wars movie set as you follow the driving track around the limestone sculptures in Nambung National Park. Word has it that these natural wonders date back 25,000 -30,000 years. When the sea receded, seashell deposits were exposed. Thanks to a strong sea breeze, the former seabed is now a mess of unusual pillars and formations that amaze 20,000 visitors each year.
